Wasena Roanoke Skate Park
Located beneath the Wasena Bridge in Wasena Park on Wiley Drive SW between Winona Ave. and 12th Street in southwest Roanoke, VA

Description of Park: Large park built of mostly skatelite and masonite. Some of the ramps are warped quite a bit, but most of the ramps are rideable. They have a lot of ramps on the street course like quarter pipes, a table top with a rail, they have a 12ft quarter pipe and vertwall, rollins, and much more. The halfpipes are connected with a small 4ft, a 6ft in the middle, and a larger 8ft on the end.

 

Riverfront Skate Park

Located on the riverfront in downtown Lynchburg.

Description of Park: 14,000 sq ft park with multiple flat bars, a bench, a pyramid with hubba, 2 quarter pipes, a loading dock with a kicker ramp, a concrete platform with ledge, a concrete bank, 2 stairsets and a concrete bowl- designed and built by California Skateparks, with a shallow 5' section, 2 hips and a deep 8' section.

  • May 17 - Restoration Talk and Tour - 3:00pm to 4:00pm - In honor of National Historic Preservation month, Director of Restoration Travis McDonald will present a slide talk and tour explaining why Jefferson's design of his retreat, Poplar Forest, was a radically modern work of architecture in America for its time. Jefferson's work was a "melting pot" of architectural prototypes but also very personal. The current restoration work on the wing of service rooms is one of the most Jeffersonian parts of the architecture and one that was innovative and unusual in American architecture.   • May 24 - Moonlight Serenade - 7:00pm - See the Memorial at dusk on this special Memorial Day weekend. The Jefferson Choral Society will perform an evening concert of 1940s music from 8:00pm to 9:00pm. Performer Keith Campbell will kick off the concert at 7pm.   • May 31 - 3rd Annual BBQ at Sedalia - Barbeque connoisseurs will gather at the 3rd annual BBQ festival to celebrate the art and secrets of slow-cooked pork barbeque. Tastin' starts at High noon! BBQ Teams will likely begin cooking Friday night and continue into the early hours of Saturday morning.
